Mr. Harbold received his Juris Doctor from the Capital University Law School, Columbus, Ohio, in 1975. While in law school, Mr. Harbold was a Member of Order of the Curia, an academic honorary society. He was admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio in 1975 and to the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio, in 1976.

Mr. Harbold has been engaged in the private practice of law since 1975, and has practiced exclusively in the domestic relations field since 1982. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Family Law Section), Ohio State Bar Association (Family Law Section), Columbus Bar Association (Family Law Committee), Central Ohio Association for Justice, and Ohio Association for Justice.

In January, 2000, Mr. Harbold had the distinction of being designated by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Board Certified Specialist in Family Relations Law. Mr. Harbold was a member of the first class of attorneys to receive the newly-created designation. Of sixty-five candidates state wide, Mr. Harbold received the highest score on the qualifying competency examination.

Mr. Harbold has attained the Martindale-Hubbell AV rating (highest rating attainable), and is listed in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. In addition, Mr. Harbold has been named by Law and Politics as an Ohio Super Lawyer (a group comprised of approximately five percent of the total number of lawyers in Ohio) each year since the distinction was established in 2004. Recently, Mr. Harbold was recognized by his peers as one of the top 50 lawyers in Columbus and one of the top 100 lawyers in Ohio (30,000+ attorneys).

Mr. Harbold has also lectured extensively for the Columbus and Ohio State Bar Associations.
